Solstice in the Arctic

A couple of days late, but I have been pointed at this lovely time-lapse photo of the sun’s track across the sky during the Winter Solstice in Fairbanks, Alaska. The photo came from ScienceBlogs, and there are several other beautiful time-lapse pictures in the post. Thanks to my pal Otto for alerting me to it.

Solstice in the Arctic

You can see why people might have been worried about the sun not coming back.

  1. There needs to be a term for when a spell checker miscorrects a misspelling and the result still makes sense, but weirdly so.

In this case, I assume you wanted ‘alerting’.

Meanwhile, I can see why Catie Murphy decided to move to Dublin instead.

  2. Ah,yes ..there are scenes herein that ? Call for the Pagan Sacrifice of the New Born King ..and all that sort of Pantheistic sort of thing, and who among us does not long for for an obsidian Knife, a Stepped P pyramid and … David Cameron ..oh,come now he is pretty closely attached to British Royalty is HE not!?

I could be persuaded to believe that HE, Did pluck the Sword from the Stone, and thus HE is suitably Qualified … Not that I wish Him ? Ill ..Oh dear Me No!

It is His Natural Destiny! Who could Doubt it?
