The commitment to co-running the fund for the next two-to-three years after that, which is major, as it involves promoting the fund all over your continent, raising the necessary funds for the next several years, and a general commitment to spending the rest of your years in fandom promoting the fan fund you’ve been honored by?
Buying a ticket is a lot less work. Buying five first class tickets, if you’re unemployed and on the dole, is a lot less work.
