It is traditional for the forthcoming Worldcon to not only host a party for the Hugo nominees after the ceremony, but also to give each of them a gift. The party is generally a bust, being massively overcrowded. This year was no exception. But this year’s gift was very good indeed. It is a combination pen and USB stick. The drive capacity is a useful 970 Mb. And of course the pen has “2008 Hugo Award Nominee” written on it (or if you prefer “Candidat – Prix Hugo 2008”). This is one nominee gist that I am going to carry everywhere with me and get a lot of use from. Thank you, Anticipation!

Did you take any pictures of the Hugo Losers Party? Insofar as pictures could be taken? I’ve been looking online sporadically for any by anyone to no avail; thought I saw some on the official programming photog’s Flickr, but they were the Reno bid, looks like. I mean, its not the stuff of a press release, but I might want to poke Rene or somebody to point at it from our website. I admit it also might be useful to have a picture of him looking official in a suit. Of course he’ll also probably have circles under his eyes to his toes since the masochist decided to run sign shop . . . .
I don’t think I took any pictures there. It was just too unpleasant inside.
