  1. Not only that, but this leaves the prospect (if England can win the final match) of a five-game series ending drawn with 2 wins each — which has just the right amount of twisted weirdness to convince sundry Americans that they’ll *never* understand the game…

  2. It reminds me of the time that Kevin and I went to see an Earthquakes game in San Jose (MLS soccer, for the uninitiated). There was a family sat in front of us, and the young lad was holding up a sign saying “NO TIE!”. He didn’t care who won the game, but it was very important to him that someone should win. A tie is apparently a very un-American concept.
