I actually cried and promptly put on Rocket man by Elton John.
That’s one awfully small boot-print for someone who left such a big mark on the world as we know it. Yes, he had 400,000 people helping… but only one man could’ve gotten Eagle down safely, and ensured that the idea of going to the stars was firmly planted in the next two generations.
I hope that, having been given 43 years to germinate, that seed will now grow. If the some five *million* people who stayed up to watch Curiosity touch down on Mars are any indication, I needn’t worry too much. o/~ We’re going to the stars / See our Fire in the Sky o/~ (Jordin Kare)
