Let me get this straight: the British National Party is happy to amend its “whites only” membership rule in order to comply with equality legislation, but our glorious bishops demand that the Church of England be exempt from such legislation so that Christians can be free to hate whomever they please. And in related news, Australia’s most famous anti-immigration politician, Pauline Hanson, is planning to leave the country because it is “swamped by Asians”. She wants to come and live in Britain. Somehow I think she has an entirely wrong impression of what she can expect here.

When you say “Asian” to an Australian they will think of east-asian people – typically Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai and perhaps Indonesians. From that point of view maybe she will see a lot less of what she considers “Asian” faces. But I’m willing to bet she sees fewer of what she thinks to be “British” faces than she expects.
